Happy August! Summer is flying by, it’s officially Friday and time for the weekend. With it being the start of another month it is time to plan ahead and organize the month to come. Stop in at one of our Dollarwise locations for the best prices on everything you would need to throw your kids the birthday part of their dreams. The next few ideas are a few great “do it yourself” party ideas. Your kids will love them and you will save big. Save the stress, shop at Dollarwise for all your party needs.

Water Fights

What better way to cool off and test the kid's competitive sides than with a water fight! Grab plastic water guns, buckets, water balloons and anything else! This is a great idea for when it’s hot out and your kids are looking to cool off. Fill a bunch of water balloons before hand and leave them in a bucket full of water (to prevent them from popping). When it comes time to play the game fill two buckets up and put them on either side of the “playing field”. Split the kids up into two groups and on the count of three, have them throw as many balloons as they can, every time someone is hit they are out! Last one standing wins!

Craft Time

Crafts are a great party idea and will definitely keep the kids busy for a couple hours. There are plenty of easy crafts that can be planned ahead and supplied for several people. Check out our Pinterest page for tons of great party craft ideas!

Letter Decorating!

  • Big wooden letter of each kids first initial
  • Paint
  • Markers
  • Stickers
  • Glitter
  • Paint brushes
  • Sponges

  • Lay a table cloth that you don’t mind getting dirty across your table.
  • At each seat, place a letter, paint brush/sponge, stickers, glitter etc. for each kid.
  • Place paint in buckets at the centre of the table.
  • Now it's time for the kids use their creative imagination and create their master pieces!

Snack Time

After the games are over and crafts are drying it’s time to feed the hungry party people! Does your party have a theme? With these themes in mind you can provide food and a cake following the same themes, think deep and come up with a few great ideas.

Snacks might be the easy part of finding the right party foods, while lunch or dinner can be tricky. Try bbq items, sandwiches, fruit or vegetables or even have each kid make their own pizza! Making their own pizza is a great way to ensure every kid is happy with the ingredients on the pizza. Pita bread makes for great single person pizzas, load them up with all of their favourite ingredients.
