The holidays can be stressful for many reasons so it’s very important to think about your mental health as well as your physical health. Take 30-40 minutes out of your day to do some yoga or even meditate, as it will relieve stress and clear your mind of all negative thoughts. A huge part of meditation and yoga is conscious breathing, which will help clear the mind. Even if you only have 5 minutes to spare, pausing to practice deep breathing can help you relax during high stress times.
Try this breathing technique:
- Inhale through your nose for a count of seven with your hand on your stomach, feeling your stomach rise with your breath.
- Exhale through your mouth for a count of seven, feeling your stomach fall with your exhale.
- Pause for a count of three, and repeat.
Repeat this breathing technique as needed, ensuring you focus on deep, controlled breathing, and marvel on your stress melting away!
Need a quick and hard workout to help get your heart rate going and clear your mind? Head to the beach and start sprinting! Setting up targets 200 meters apart (or whatever distance you choose) will help you keep track of how many meters you’re sprinting. Sprinting in intervals allows your heart rate to jump quickly, which helps you burn calories faster! Do this until fatigued and/ or pair it with the abdominal circuit above. You will be feeling ready to take on all holiday tasks after this beach workout!
